Living in Korea | Live Comfortably, Get Ikea Delivered and Assembled for you in Korea
Updated: Apr 9, 2021
There’s much to love about Ikea. Just about anyone can create a designer living room by simply following showroom templates. It’s easy to get inspired into creating a homey cozy space for hanging out, dining, working and living comfortably. For those short on storage, there’s a solution for every nook and cranny to hide away odds and ends. Giving your room fresh accents using candles, vases, pillows and wall hangings can be a great way to breathe some new life into your home without spending a ton of money. Ikea’s simple elegant designs that create space in an otherwise cramped Korean style apartment is wonderful.
The famous Swedish furniture store can be found in Gwangmyeong with a second store opening in Goyang this October 2017 with similar design and layout. For many the trek to the Gyeonggi Province to visit the giant warehouse can become a fun weekend outing for the family if you don’t mind heavy crowds. With so many showrooms that range from the quirky to the practical, knick knacks and even a cafeteria stocked with Swedish meatballs it can take a whole day to experience it all.
While you are there, you can have your items delivered to your home if you didn’t come with a car and also request to have someone visit your home to assemble your furniture. We highly recommend this for those who are generally not inclined to lift heavy things and don’t like to follow assembly instructions. Since most instructions only come with pictures and not words, some say building Ikea furniture could be akin to Satan’s favorite hobby. It’s not uncommon for best friends to part ways and marriages to become strained under the duress of endless arguments of where a single bolt should go. If you're going to build together, we recommend doing so only under the strongest of relationships. :)
For those who live too far to visit Ikea, they also have a great website where you can browse all their newest products. They don’t officially accept online orders, but you can still order Ikea furniture on the internet, have it delivered and assembled without ever having to leave your home. There are many Korean online retailers that specialize in handling this which can help save time and energy so you can get to enjoying your new living room sooner!
Wonderful can help with coordinating with these companies for your next furniture order and delivery. Just send us a picture of the items you like, then sit back, relax and enjoy - as your personal assistant, we give you access to Korea like a local.
