It’s as crazy simple as that and all you have to do is to be able to properly describe where you are in English - nearby landmarks are helpful meeting points.

There are more than 50,000 chicken restaurants throughout Korea, which outnumbers the number of McDonald’s in the world according to a survey in the Korea Herald. Most of these franchises and independently owned stores deliver which means, chicken is available almost anywhere.

Also known as Chimaek, chicken and beer is so popular there’s even a festival in Daegu to celebrate all it’s glory. Every year event planners expect over one million visitors to go to the festival which will include music and cultural performances, and of course lots of chicken and beer. Considering that the population of Korea is only around 50 million people, that's an impressive number of attendees and serious devotion to fried chicken. However, due to COVID-19 the situation and schedule might be change or cancel.

Korean chicken comes in many flavors and is available fried, baked, boneless or even whole in some places. It’s even possible to find restaurants that use rice flour or double fry the chicken to make it extra crispy. For those more adventurous and want something other than plain fried chicken, here are some popular sauces and toppings we recommend trying. When you can’t decide on a flavor, there are often options to order half in one and half in another.

  • Yeungnyam – sweet and spicy sauce

  • Ganjang – soy sauce

  • Padal – topped with raw spring onions

  • Snowing – topped with a sweet and savory powder

  • Maneul – garlic sauce

  • Maeoon – extra spicy

  • Booldal – extremely hot and burn your face spicy

As for beer, some places offer to deliver draft beers but Cass and OB are usually more readily available. We’re hoping that as artisan craft beers become more popular in Korea, chicken restaurants will start delivering those too.

"Alcohol delivery is available on Yogiyo and Baemin too, as long as you can verify your age, you are good to order 😉 "
