Nestled on the remote ocean side island of Dolsan-do is a little resort that calls itself the Finland Morning Resort. So cute and quaint, and only a few hours reach by KTX train or flight from Seoul, it's the perfect weekend getaway from busy city life. Renting a pension home in South Korea is a great way to cozy up with friends and family to spend quality time together. Hidden gems like this with different themes can be found all throughout the peninsula and are usually run by small family businesses.
With only 11 two-story suites, the Finland Morning Resort is not very large but has a ton of amenities including a gorgeous outdoor heated infinity swimming pool overlooking a scenic vista of green forests and blue ocean. Reminiscent of the country of Finland's cottage life, the resort even has a Finnish dry sauna. There is also a soccer field, karaoke and you can rent charcoal grills for BBQs.
While in the nearby area, about 12 kilometers north of the resort a breakwater links Yeosu port to Odongdo Island, home to red camellia blossoms and a lighthouse with an observatory. Take the short excursion back to Dolsando Island and you can find a Maritime and Fisheries Science Museum, with an aquarium of turtles. You can also view Dolsandaegyo Bridge from Dolsan Park. If you have more time, a venture to the island's southern tip takes you to the clifftop Hyangiram Hermitage, an ancient Buddhist temple.
