Tis the season of ugly sweaters, reindeer noses, and Santa Clause coming down chimney sweeps to deliver presents to good little children. But wait… what happens if you don’t have a fireplace? And how can this holiday be Christmas in Korea without a fresh tree, decorations and advent calendars?
Although many will say it’s impossible to get a fresh Christmas tree for your home to fill it with the scent of pine and cheer, we present to you the Abies Koreana. Otherwise known as a Korean fir, it has become a popular tree to decorate and honor for the holiday. With it’s soft green needles that have a silvery under side and unique purple pine cones, it may be one of the prettiest trees you’ll ever see. Native to the mountain sides of Jeju island, it is a prized fir that is more commonly used in Korea for making medicines and soaps. Best delivered potted so they last longer and stand taller, the Korean fir can brighten up any room so you can create memorable moments of opening Santa’s gifts under a string of lights and colorful ornaments.
Among the many decorations you can get in Korea, it’s also possible to find advent calendars. These great activity calendars filled with sweet treats are to be opened everyday in the month of December so little ones can learn the true meaning of Christmas.
At Wonderful, it’s one of our goals to help you create memorable moments and get the most out of your time. As your bilingual personal assistant, we give you access to everything in Korea like a local.
